Premier Anna Bligh has announced that the Regional First Home Owner Grant (RFHOG) will be available from 1 June 2010. Under the initiative, the federal government’s First Home Owners Grant will be boosted from $7,000 to $11,000 by the state government for first-time buyers in the state’s regional areas. Ms Bligh said that the RFHOG had been brought forward from 1 July 2010 to satisfy demand and alleviate population growth pressure on south-east Queensland.
To be eligible for the $4000 regional bonus, the following must apply:
- You must be eligible for the $7000 first home owner grant.
- You must either build or buy a new homeāthe bonus does not apply to established homes.
- The home must be located in a Queensland regional area (see map of eligible areas).
- The commencement date (i.e. the contract date or, for owner-builders, the date the foundations are laid) must be between 1 June 2010 and 30 June 2011 (inclusive). However, there is no set time that building must be completed.
