> Melbourne’s Better Performing Suburbs
Melbourne's SuburbsFrankston, located south-east of Melbourne on Port Phillip Bay, has emerged as a key suburb to watch over the coming year. Major infrastructure upgrades and increasing commercial development are helping to drive steady growth in property values. Popular with first home buyers, Frankston is cheap, coastal and strategically located at the start of the Mornington Peninsula. Rated by the REIV as one of Melbourne’s affordable suburbs, buyers can still pick up a three-bedroom home for under $200,000. Beachside homes start in the low $400,000 while top-end start at around $500,000. On the other side of town, Newport has been one of 2005’s success stories. The median house price rose an impressive 6.8 per cent over the March quarter to $384,500.
